Breaking Cultural Barriers to Support Raising

Overcoming the Fear of "Asking"

When national representatives are on the front lines in countries such as Germany, Poland, Israel, or Eastern Europe, they encounter specific cultural challenges in garnering support. Instead of relying on generic, high-pressure "sales" tactics, they require training that effectively adapts biblical stewardship principles to their local cultures.

Recently, an Eastern European representative shared that he was nearing burnout. Coming from a post-Soviet background, he was taught that seeking financial support was shameful—almost akin to begging. At the same time, a German representative voiced strong frustration with aggressive, "sales-pitch" style fundraising techniques that seemed culturally insincere to his community.

Without personalized coaching, these dedicated frontline workers were close to quitting. Through our one-on-one sessions, we addressed and dismantled their fears. I clarified that ministry partnership isn't about "asking for money" or employing sales tactics, but about inviting fellow believers to participate in gospel work. We redirected their focus from financial goals to cultivating genuine relationships and sharing God's work among the Jewish community.

The coaching impact involves shifting a representative’s mindset from begging to a biblical invitation, empowering them with the confidence to remain active and develop lasting local partnerships.

Biblical Truth

In Philippians 4:15–17, Paul expressed gratitude to the Philippian believers for their partnership, emphasizing that their generosity was more than just providing for his physical needs—it was credited as fruit to their account. Support raising enables other believers to participate in the eternal blessings of God's work.
